Is this a known issue?

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2500 which I upgraded from 2.99.? to 3.99.7.

After the upgrade fxp1 (which was fine before) is shown by ifconfig as
properly configured (status: active, full-duplex, flowcontrol,
rxpause, txpause) but I can't even ping from/to the machine.

Is this related to
