v2.0 (from pkgsrc) doesn't work for me at all on either NetBSD/alpha or
NetBSD/i386.  It just beeps and complains that it cannot load the image:

	gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image: filename.jpg
	All fallbacks failed.

(no matter what image type I try)

(other GDK and imlib applications work fine though)

(otherwise from the help and manual page it looks like it might be
interesting!)
