I'll throw in an offer of a Radeon 7500 to anyone who will at least start on
the work, shipped anywhere reasonable.  And another $100 of bounty for a
real live driver.  (Bringing the total offer to $600.)  I know the 7500's
not exactly a modern card, but it's a Radeon that is known to work with the
DRI support in Linux.  :)
