built a kernel (pretty vanilla JORNADA720 from the archs' config=20
directory) which features

wi*     at pcmcia? function ?           # Lucent WaveLan IEEE (802.11)

(which is enabled per default).

booting this kernel on a Jornada 720 (sorry, no dmesg handy, but=20
standard machine) gives this result:
