I've had problems with the ulpt driver, too.

I have a USB-to-Centronics cable that I hooked up to an HP LaserJet
5MP. After printing one file, the ulpt driver panics the kernel. This
happens under NetBSD 1.6.2 and under FreeBSD 5.2.1. I thought the
cable wasn't completely compatible with the ulpt driver, so I wrote it
off. But it appears that real USB printers are having problems, too.
So I thought I'd add my data point.

(I can't provide a backtrace because that machine is running Dragonfly
until NetBSD 2.0 is released... Sorry!)
