Yeah, I copied that version number from your message (as I knew the R14 was 
right) and realised after I sent the message that it should have been 7.0.0
(R14).

The suse packages needed the  libpthread.so.0 symlink as well (must fix the 
suse{,91}_base packages) and as you say it works with "-nojvm" so presumably 
we are back to the same problem that stopped R13 working at some point after 
1.6ZK.
