I also have problems with i810 under NetBSD 1.6.x. And I saw in the past
and today via google several others have i8x0 problems under NetBSD.

My PR is at http://www.NetBSD.org/cgi-bin/query-pr-single.pl?number=24013
I see someone commented to it, which I don't recall reading before.

I don't know if it is related or not. I have to use xdm to start up X
early. And I can't restart X due to some memory issue. (And it works fine
under Linux for me.)
