Cross-building would seem to work just fine.  What you are talking
about is making an ISO image of the product of that cross-building.
Please note also that pkgsrc is also cross-platform - the list of
supported platforms (to a greater or lesser degree) is:

	AIX
	BSDOS
	Darwin
	FreeBSD
	IRIX
	Interix
	Linux
	NetBSD
	OpenBSD
	SunOS
	UnixWare

So please take Luke's advice and just install cdrecord on the host
OS for just now.
