There also seems to be some correlation to IPSEC traffic (or it is just
a matter of having enough traffic):
- during a period of roughly one hour, I was getting
on the average one timeout every 2-3 minutes with
~100-200 kbps of traffic coming through an IPSEC tunnel
(representing about 40-60% of total traffic of fxp1)
- once the IPSEC-related traffic stopped, I haven't seen
a single timeout during the last hour; I tried generating
extra traffic on fxp1 to keep it busy, but failed to get
any timeouts (maybe I should have tried harder or longer)
As for the IPSEC-related traffic/setup, see eg. kern/25087
(I assume that to be a different problem, but the system/setup is the
same, so I didn't want to replicate all the info here). The system
having the timeouts is "GWD" in #25087
