This is clearly what happened to me; sd* disks were switched around, and
when I decided to forget trying to upgrade and simply do a fresh install
on another disk, I ended up accidentally overwriting my 1.6.1
(non-backed-up) install (sigh...). Luckily it was a relatively fresh
install, so getting everything back up to speed only took a few days.

I ended up installing a build from the releng server. btw, sysinst is
getting better and better! But both cpus are now running very nicely; the
system has been up for 3 days with no problems at all. Life is good.

Thanks for your all the help.
