I linked ksh to bash and rolled back usr.bin/make/var.c to version 1.86
and was able to build world and a new kernel with no problems.

Thank you for your help. I switched to Net from Free for just the sort of
level-headedness that we all find on this list.

The next challenge in bringing up NetBSD-current on the VIA EPIA
CL10000 mini-itx board is to get XFree86-4.4-RC3 running with the
patches from Thomas Hellstrom <http://www.shipmail.org/~thomas/via/>

If anyone has advice on installing XFree 4.3.99.903 (4.4-RC3) from
the X source distribution please let me know. I've heard that this
should be "straight-forward".

Thanks all,
