Indeed. This is an very efficient way to collect _valid_ mail addresses.

- They are very probably subscribed to multiple discussion lists.
- It is very likely that they (nearly) NEVER post to any ML's they're
subscribed to.
- And they are very likely NOT subscribed to cvs lists.


Enlist all subscribers, who fit into the above three "categories".
What do you think how many of them are very likely spammers and
how many of them are just lurkers?

What do you think will happen, when you unsubscribe them silently?
