At the time it was oct 1 (both userland and kernel from same set of
sources)

I've got oct 7 now.  This problem has happened for at least a month,
off and on -- at least the "ogg123 and audioplay stop working but
mpg123 still works" part.  I didn't notice the stats stopped at the
same time.
