string_to_flags gets pulled in from ${SRCDIR}/bin/ls.

Sometimes I get this error as well; tonight, after a full cvs co
(which took INORDINATELY long (and had to be restarted thrice!)),
I got a full build.

[Now, about that pesky "release" target...]
