Hi!

I am running a -current kernel with -1-6 userland.

I do have an Asus SP97-XV mainboard.
The manual says, it's 'ACPI ready'.

I am an excellent C programmer - in userspace (can look back to 12 years of
programming experience and 6 years programming in C).

In kernelspace, I am an absolutely newbie.
I am willing to learn, so please give me step by step instructions what to
do
to get this working.
