So, I have an IDE<->firewire drive bay.

One of my drives doesn't work reliably in it; symptoms are that I get the
kernel message:

Jul 10 21:17:41 vash /netbsd: fwohci_buf_input: malformed input 2: 16

(the last two numbers vary; it can be input 1, 2, or 3, and it's either 8 or
16).

After this, the drive is dead dead dead. I can't talk to it in any way; any
process trying to interact with it goes into disk wait. Unplugging it
permanently hangs the system. And yet, I can ^C out of programs connected
to it - leaving them *still* in disk wait. I've never seen that happen
before.

This is, of course, very frustrating when trying to copy files from an old
disk to a new one.

Curiously, if I put this disk in the machine, I can read it just fine, and
copy to the other disk - only this disk isn't bootable anymore! Argh.
