Just to note: there is an "Updating a stable NetBSD release" documentation
at http://www.netbsd.org/Documentation/updating.html (but it doesn't say
when to reboot, like the Documentation/current/ suggests a few times).
I still think that the userland build almost always shouldn't matter much
if a new kernel is in place; maybe I understand this wrong, but if
cross-builds (hopefully) are supported from different operating systems
(like Cygwin and FreeBSD) or from some different NetBSD version (like
building -current under 1.5.4 or building 1.6.1 under -current), it seems
like it shouldn't matter.
