True, but I'd like to see it replaced by the script telling the user what
to do instead that Andrew posted already.

Of course there are hand-made configure scripts out there that use 
/usr/bin/which to find the path to a binary (I've been hitten by one of those
recently since my .cshrc interfered, IIRC it was pkgsrc/net/rdesktop)
