I've been thinking about this, yes.  The GET_PARAMS request could also 
e.g. specify the maximum sync rate for parallel-scsi busses that the 
controller can handle, etc.

We also need more flexible "set transfer speed" so we can implement 
domain validation for U160 and U320 controllers.
