I was running 1.6 on my Sony Vaio PCG-GRX600 laptop, but 1.6 failed to;
configure my second cardbus slot, find the external serial port on my
port adapter, produce non "choppy" sound via the auich driver, and apm was
unable to report battery information and suspend correctly (i.e.,
the system never came back after an attempted suspend.)

Upon hearing that current included nascent ACPI, I decided to upgrade
my Vaio to the i386 1.6P snapshot.  The good news is; 1.6P configured
my 2nd cardbus slot, found & configured my external serial port, and
sound plays correctly!

The bad news is, as soon as I load X (4.3.0) via xdm, ACPI (?) reports:

pckbc: command timeout
pms_enable: command error 35
pckbc: command timeout
pckbc: command timeout
pms_disable: command error

and worse, if I *touch* my built-in touchpad, I loose keyboard input (the 
USB mouse attached via my port replicator *still* works correctly.)

This was not an issue with 1.6 & X (4.2.x), and although re-installing
4.2.x is something that I should/could do, I highly suspect that this
is an ACPI issue, and was hoping that someone could shed some light on
what exactly is happening.

Note that my kernel *did* report some ACPI errors, but I'm not sure if they 
are relevant or not -- I've included my dmesg output below, thanks!
