My vague idea was that, if I do
	ifconfig wi0 10.0.0.1 media auto mediaopt hostap nwid foo
on one box, and
	ifconfig wi0 10.0.0.2 media auto nwid foo
on another, the second box should see the first as an access point.  In
fact, the second box thinks there's no available network.  What obvious
thing am I missing?

The cards talk fine in adhoc mode.
