I have considered it, along with the new build.sh semantics.

It's non trivial though, since it requires some intrusive changes in how
the overall build infrastructure works on the -1-6 branch.  If I get
some spare time, I'll take a look.  (I run and build both -1-6 and -current,
and I'm starting to miss stuff like "kernel=..." and "installworld" in
build.sh :)
