Hi,

Because ehci(4) says the driver is quite buggy, I want to let you know that the Maxtor 5000DV external USB2/FireWire drive works nicely with it:

NetBSD 1.6L (CUDDLE) #10: Wed Jan 15 19:25:57 CET 2003

...

ehci0 at pci0 dev 13 function 2: VIA Technologies VT6202 USB 2.0 Controller (rev. 0x51)
ehci0: interrupting at irq 11
ehci0: EHCI version 0.95
ehci0: companion controllers, 2 ports each: uhci1 uhci2
usb3 at ehci0: USB revision 2.0
uhub3 at usb3
uhub3: VIA Technologie EHCI root hub, class 9/0, rev 2.00/1.00, addr 1
uhub3: 4 ports with 4 removable, self powered
umass0 at uhub3 port 1 configuration 1 interface 0
umass1 at uhub1 port 2 configuration 1 interface 0

(complete dmesg at http://original.xs4all.nl/cuddle+usb2+fw.txt, config file is at http://original.xs4all.nl/cuddle-config.txt)

The past few days I've written and read many GBytes and it just works; throuhgput is around 7.5 MB/s (on a PentiumII 233 MHz).

*

On the other hand, the drive does not work with its FireWire port.

In the config file, I have:

fwohci* at pci? dev ? function ? # IEEE1394 Open Host Controller
fw* at fwbus? # IP over 1394
fwnode* at fwbus? idhi ? idlo ?
sbpscsi* at fwnode?
scsibus* at sbpscsi?

dmesg says:

fwohci0 at pci0 dev 15 function 0: VIA Technologies VT3606 OHCI IEEE 1394 Controller (rev. 0x46)
fwohci0: interrupting at irq 11
fwohci0: OHCI 1.0, 00:11:06:00:00:00:82:ed, 400Mb/s, 2048 max_rec, 8 ir_ctx, 8 it_ctx
fw0 at fwohci0: 00:11:06:00:00:00:82:ed:0a:02:ff:ff:f0:01:00:00
fwnode0 at fwohci0 Node 1: UID 00:10:b9:20:00:3d:4f:46

when I unplug the drive and then plug it in again, it says:

fwnode0 detached
fwnode0 at fwohci0 Node 1: UID 00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00
fwnode1 at fwohci0 Node 1: UID 00:10:b9:20:00:3d:4f:46
fwnode0 detached

Is this supposed to work? Am I missing some config line?

I'm happy to test stuff for ppl that are working on this.

Grtnx,
