I really wouldn't like to see shells change from being fairly 
standard, "known quantities" to being monolithic behemoths that 
assimilate file commands. It would be A Bad Thing for compatibility 
and a uniform user experience IMO. It would also have to be redundant 
for switch compatibility and for compat. with user-installed shells.
