[snip, config(8) never returns...]

Seems I've messed up my system in a very subtle way. Everything works
seemingly ok including X. To remedy my problems with config I tried to
rebuild the toolchain using -t -b, but now I can't even get
nbmake configured:

vlab1:/usr/src# sh -b -t -O /usr/obj
===> Bootstrapping nbmake
checking for sh... /bin/sh

[15 lines cut out]

checking for strftime... yes
checking for vsnprintf... yes

... and then it hangs forever. In top, cmp is tagged as 'ttyin'.

Anyone have any idea what I've done wrong, and how I can recover from it?
