you may want to try using xf86setup or xf86cfg to create the XF86Config,
those X -configure may be missing something.
also, did you compile X from source from X, from xsrc, or grab the bin
release from xfree86.org? i'm using the netbsd 1.5 bin release from
xfree86.org and it installed and runs without any errors.
