Once the devvp branch is merged with -current, we will be able to do what
you propose.

Until that time, you can fudge it like I mentioned earlier with multiple
audio_attach_mi calls and hardware mixing code (or, if you want to get
really involved, implement software mixing in the kernel).

See the latest esa(4) sources in -current for an example of what I mean.
Your AWE64 will support hardware mixing -- all it takes is someone with the
time to write a driver for the EMU8000.
