Um, is it normal at this point that nbinstall, nbmtree et al. are
dumping core due to a SEGV?

[NOTE:  when last I tried to build a complete system with a newly
built gcc, everything started dumping core looping in _fini()
(from exit()).  The core dump is different this time, but it's still
happening...]
