Well I don't think the mit-pthreads pkg or mysql broke on their own.  
I've looked at the CVSweb entries and I have come to the conclusion that 
a recent change in the NetBSD source has done it, since nothing in the 
mit-pthreads pkg has been changed in 2 months.
