since i've been asked by more than one person, i've committed a note
to options(4) that describes the new option (which i meant to do
anyway) *and* gives the command (a sample command...it could certainly
be done in other ways) to extract the config data. it's also noted at
the top of the generated config_file.h, but now i'm mentioning it
here, since no one reads the documentation anyway. :)
