Since nobody seems to know what is causing the problem, can someone
offer some solutions?

I've

1) done a cvs update -dP
2) checked my /usr/share/mk files
3) made sure there are no .depend files
4) removed the obj directory and run make cleans

I really don't want to remove all the sources and start again.
