     In fact you don't. The "create IBSS" switch -- though noted as
   not working in the man page -- does indeed work all right with a
   recent version of the Wavelan's firmware.

Thanks.  Now that I've upgraded the cards I see that, too.

Firmware v7.28 will do IBSS mode just fine.
