Although I have not yet begun to badger them, I've accumulated a bunch of
hints that indicate it is likely to be harder than is worthwhile (mainly
that the adapter doesn't work all that well on a Macintosh, which is its
intended environment!).

Are there any USB-to-IDE adapters which work out of the box?
