My recent experiment with running a large "kitchen sink" partition has
only had limited success.

After years of making only sizeof(backup_media) partitions I got my
first Really Big (tm) disk. There just aren't enough partitions to
allow a 75gig disk to be cut up very finely.

The first time one's machine hangs, one realizes why a ~70 gig
partition is a really bad idea. You get to wait 15 minutes while fsk
checks your disk.
