I posted a longer msg on port-i386 about my latest find. In short it
looks like this is a Sony Vaio 505tx bios problem. When I turn on all
the *VERBOSE options in the kernel config I get this:
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: [NG]
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: --------------------------[ 1 devices bogus]
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: WARNING: can't reserve area for I/O APIC.
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: Physical memory end: 0x03fed000
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: PCI memory mapped I/O space start: 0x04000000
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: [PCIBIOS fixup stage]-----------------------
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: device vendor product
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: register space address size
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: --------------------------------------------
Sep 22 12:45:23 pasillo /netbsd: 000:00:0 0x8086 0x7100
The same lexar card works just find on 3 other x86's with the same
-current kernel on the following:
Intel VS440 (venus PPRO 150) + webgear isa/pcmcia adaptor
Toshiba t4800ct (ancient 66Mhz 486 dx2)
Sony Vaio 505VE (more recent version of the vaio)
If you have a second computer to test on perhaps you'll also find that
the card "just works" on those.
