Nice response guys (no girls yet :). Here is the newest update
of my problem...

1. BIOS
-------
First of all: My BIOS-menus doesn't say anything about pcmcia/cardbus.
(The machine is a HP Omnibook 3000 from 1998 so there is also no plug'n
play stuff)

2. PCI OPTIONS
--------------
I have added the following options to the kernel config:

<CUT>
options PCIBIOS # PCI BIOS support
options PCIBIOS_INTR_FIXUP # fixup PCI interrupt routing
options PCIBIOSVERBOSE # PCI BIOS verbose info
options    PCIINTR_DEBUG        # super-verbose PCI interrupt fixup
</CUT>

3. PCI*FIXUP
------------
I'm NOT using this.

3. OUTPUT FROM /var/log/messages
--------------------------------
Here is the output in /var/log/messages when i put in the card
using a kernel with the above specified options:

<CUT>

4. TOTAL 'dmesg' OUTPUT
-----------------------
Here is the output from 'dmesg' after booting the new kernel:
