Facing this problem, I decided to use (with XFree 4.0) something like:

*decTerminalID: 220
*termName: vt220
*title: VT220 Terminal Emulator
*backarrowKey: False
*ttyModes: erase ^?

getting terminal very similar to that emulated by wscons.
