Disagree here, here's why:

dmesg at boot time will produce different results than the 'dmesg -'
which runs (or was run, historically) once every five (fifteen?) minutes.

We want the boot-time dmesg output, not necessarily the output accumulated
through the uptime of the system, and it should be there in an unadulterated
form.

That's my take on it; I'm sure someone else will disagree with this. :-)
