Yes:  the ability to run X (on i386) without options INSECURE.

When I had an i386 kernel with pcvt and without options INSECURE, I
could run XFree86 just fine.  There was a warning message about some
kind of access being denied, but the X server continued to work fine
despite that warning.

If I have an i386 kernel with wscons and without options INSECURE, the
X server just doesn't work at all.
