It doesn't take any invention for me to dislike a network protocol where
nothing is at a reasonable alignment!

(Note that I did telephony standards work for some time and was just plain
 astounded by the indifference of the cadre of professional standards wonks
 to issues which were obviously critical to the performance of real
 implementations -- until one day I thought about it a little harder and
 suddenly understood why the ISO stack was how it was! :-))
