Another idea is to do what Apple Macintosh has always done with its
floppy drive: it can have several mounted volumes at the same time,
and will ask you to swap the physical diskettes as it needs them.
Of course, under UNIX it would be more natural to have processes hang
on access until the right media came back on-line, probably generating
a syslog message requesting the volume change.
