To be "fair", SGI still hasn't released all of XFS; the second batch of
code quietly appeared on their website just a few days ago. As best as
I can tell, the gradual process is a combination of replacing encumbered
code and having a team port it from IRIX to Linux before release.
You sound fairly hostile about XFS. Honestly, as far as I can tell it's
a win-win situation; SGI gets some good press, and the community gets
another reference implementation of a decent filesystem that it can get
ideas from, if nothing else. I concede that we shouldn't be dependent
on this sort of corporate effort, though -- I just think we should be
glad that we can learn from a closer look at what they did.
