Mmm. My take on this is that I first ran into it on HPUX and it really pissed
me off, because I regularly need to run GNU stuff from /usr/local/bin on that
machine, especially while I'm root.

As long as full logins (-l) work properly for root, I'm happy. And I agree
that it is better for security.
