A collegue came up with a USB cam last week, which I connected to
a NetBSD box just for fun. It identified itself as
VLSI Vision VC6452V002.
I'm not sure this name is correct, the ID appearently refers to
the VLSI Vision "CPiA" chip which a lot of cameras are based on.
Anyway, it is supported by Linux, and there is programming information
available, linked to from http://home.eunet.no/~jtotland/vision/.

Just as a hint in case you don't know which camera to
start with...
