Hello, all.
Since ate least 1.4F, msdosfs been faulty in two boxes I run (one at
work and another at home, both with 2GB+ FAT32 partitions) during
write operations. Problems seem to happen more frequently when using
the disk more intensely, like when writing to a very large file or
when writing many files in sequence (but this is not a rule: some
times, even a single short file write operation can cause trouble).
Consequences can be damaged files (either the one being writen, or
even a totally different file, in a branch far away in the directory
tree), damaged directory entries and even unrecoverable FAT errors.
The problem does not show up in 1.4 (in fact, I had to boot from a
1.4 floppy to recover from a big .tgz file which I backed up my DOS
partition to).
I have filled a problem report on it, but it did not show up in the
GNATS database, even though send-pr reported successful transmission.
So I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced such problem and
if anyone has already taken care of it.
