	Hi,

before the driver for the Ensoniq AudioPCI 97 was integrated, i used the
original version by Ezra Story.

It worked fairly well and i could use wmmixer
(a dockable mixer for WindowMaker)

When the new driver was integrated with the seperate ac97 codec some problems
started. First of all, the complete X hung for a few seconds the ran for
about 10 seconds then hung again and so forth. This strange behaviout
stoppped when i killed wmmixer.

When i play something through the audio driver (mostly with xanim or mtv)
i get a similar behaviour. There's not only a drastical drop in the framerate
compared to playing with audio muted. There a also these occasional hangs
while playing.

This is what the kernel detects:

eap0 at pci0 dev 12 function 0: Ensoniq AudioPCI 97 (rev. 0x06)
eap0: interrupting at irq 11
eap0: unknown (0x43525903) codec; headphone, 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, no 3D stereo
audio0 at eap0: full duplex
midi0 at eap0: AudioPCI MIDI UART

This is i386 current. I did compile a few kernels since the source integration.
Currently i am at

NetBSD bundy 1.4M NetBSD 1.4M (BUNDY) #9: Sat Nov 6 22:20:01 CET 1999 root@bundy:/src/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/BUNDY i386
