FWIW I found a cheapo Adaptec PCI SCSI card and built a kernel
with the ahc(4) device and options AHC_TAGENABLE, and things are Just Peachy.

&^*^$# ncr driver -:)

Unfortunately SDR doesn't see the Adaptec board, but I don't
think that's much of a problem.
