I'm working on a generic AC-97 driver. Should be ready next week.

I bought an Ensoniq AudioPCI, so I've been working on an Ensoniq 1371
Driver too. :) 

However, I have a problem with the host controller (the 1371). I can't
figure out how to program its sample rate conversion registers. Has
anybody had any luck with this?

The ac97 codec on my card does not support sample rate conversion.

Hmm, maybe somebody with an EE degree can write us a software sample
rate converter. ;)
