Since we had that discussion about optimization on kernel builds, I just
found an obscure bug: when I compile a kernel with "-O3 -m686" the pciide
driver finds a second drive on controller 0 (which is not there) and the
kernel never finishes boot since this phantom drive doesn't react as
expected.

With -O2 it works fine (dmesg attached below).
