Note that this may become more than an academic discussion at some point: if
the US Government manages to force adoption of a key-escrow standard, they
could then prevent importation of crypto software that does not meet that
standard, thus making it significantly harder for US citizens to obtain such
software. If I could reach this conclusion by the simple analysis in my
previous message, how long do you think it would take Louis Freeh to reach
the same conclusion?
